Fireplaces and Fires FAQs
Do you install fireplaces and fires in Looe?
Yes. We cover the whole PL13 postcode district, including East Looe, West Looe, Hannafore, Polperro, Pelynt, Talland, Millendreath, St Martin, Sandplace, Morval and Widegates, plus the wider South East Cornwall area.
What types of fires and fireplaces can you fit in my home?
We install wood burners, multifuel stoves, gas fires, electric fires, electric media walls, bioethanol fires and a wide choice of fire surrounds, mantels and fireplaces, in both classic and contemporary styles.
Can a wood burner be fitted in an older fisherman’s cottage in Looe?
Often, yes. Many of Looe’s older stone cottages have original chimneys that can take a stove once a suitable liner is fitted. Our free home survey checks the chimney, hearth and room size first. If your home is listed or in Looe’s conservation area, you may need consent from Cornwall Council, and we can advise on this.
Which fire suits a home without a chimney or mains gas?
Electric fires are the simplest option, as they need no flue or gas supply and come in inset, wall-mounted and media wall designs. In some homes without a chimney, a stove can also be installed using a twin-wall flue system, subject to a survey
Does Looe’s coastal weather affect my chimney or flue?
Homes facing the sea or high on the valley sides can be exposed to strong winds, driving rain and salt air, which may cause downdraught, water ingress or faster wear on chimney pots and flashing. A correctly sized liner, rain cap or cowl can help, and our engineers will recommend the right option for your property.
Are your engineers Gas Safe registered and HETAS approved?
Yes. All gas fire work is carried out by our Gas Safe registered engineers, and our HETAS-registered team installs every wood burner and multifuel stove, so each job meets current safety standards.
Do you offer free quotes for fireplace and fire installations in Looe?
Yes. Every Looe customer receives a free home survey and a no-obligation quote, with clear pricing agreed before any work starts.
Can I see your stoves and fires before choosing one?
Yes. Our fireplace showroom on Plymstock Road in Plymouth is under an hour’s drive from Looe and displays a large selection of stoves, fireplaces and fires, many of them working. You can also view our suppliers online, then get in touch to book your free home survey.
